Network raises $400
The efforts to repair the kayak of Alberto De Jesus (Tito Kayak ), have concluded on the island of San Vicente in the Antilles. Following a test yesterday evening Tito expressed his satisfaction with the skills and craftsmanship with which the cetaceo type kayak was repaired and reinforced. This latest chapter followed the the battering and abuse the kayak sustained by the merciless, pounding waves and strong cross currents in the Caribbean and Atlantic oceans in recent days. Tito is anxious to renew the kayaking feat which he initiated in Venezuela and with Puerto Rico as its destination, bringing world attention to the quest to win the release of Puerto Rican political prisoner Oscar Lopez Rivera. Weather, oceanic conditions and the conclusion of logistical arrangements permitting, Tito will begin rowing north from St George along the Caribbean coast to the northern end of St Vincent island nation the next day. The National Boricua Human Rights Network has raised over $400 for Tito and will be sending it by the beginning of next week. Meanwhile, the last leg of “Pedaling for the Freedom of Oscar Lopez Rivera” conclude last night with the arrival of the bicyclists at the San Sebastian municipality, birthplace of the Puerto Rican patriot and site of the Hammock Festival being dedicated its native son, Vietnam war decorated veteran, imprisoned for the crime of “seditious conspiracy”. The cyclists began their trajectory a week earlier by crisscrossing the island municipality of Vieques, Puerto Rico, ferrying to the town of Fajardo, at the eastern end and pedaling across the northern part island nation to the western end city of Mayaguez and then to their destination in the mountain town, The team of cyclists traveled back home today and will very soon reconvening to work out plans to arrive in Florida and begin pedaling to Washington D.C. to deliver their personal requests for the immediate release of Oscar Lopez Rivera, after 31 years of imprisonment, his punishment for his commitment to the Independence of Puerto Rico.
