On December 15, several chapters of the National Boricua Human Rights Network and the Committee on Human Rights from Puerto Rico met to discuss the campaign to release the two remaining political prisoners. The meeting was heavy with discussion to develop strategies and initiatives to really kick off the campaign in 2008. Of the new initiatives, A Crime Against Humanity (a play based on the experience of the Puerto Rican political prisoners) and the Juan Antonio Corretjer’s Centennial Celebration (beginning in March 2008) were discussed at length. Also discussed was the campaign for parole for Carlos Alberto Torres. In 2009, Carlos Alberto will go before the Prison Parole Board. It’s time to bring them home!
