RIP Lawrence
Lawrence in Cuba, 2003, in front of the Che Guevara memorial. Me and my brother went to Cuba in the US-Cuba Youth exchange with the Puerto Rican, Lares and Vieques flags. We, with the other Puerto Ricans in our delegation left flags a different locations. My brother left the Puerto Rican flag a Jose Marti’s tomb, I left the Vieques flag at Guantanamo base (Cuba’s side, their outpost) and Lawrence gave the Lares flag at Che tomb. At each location we gave a short speech making the connection between Cuba and Puerto Rico and why we left that flag at that location.

MISSION

The National Boricua Human Rights Network (NBHRN) is an organization composed of Puerto Ricans in the US and their supporters that educates and mobilizes the Puerto Rican community, the broader Latin American community and other people of conscience regarding issues of justice, peace and human rights. Our priorities include: (1) An end to the continuing political repression and criminalization of progressive sectors of the Puerto Rican community; and 2) The decontamination, development, and return of the island of Vieques to its people.
