Just hearing that our friend, Lawrence Reyes, passed today. My family sends our deepest condolences and prayers to your family.
You helped nurture an entire generation of youth to be critical thinkers and world travelers like when you guided us through Cuba as part of a youth brigade in the early 2000s. Then you would help folks with all kinds of things… everything from the mundane to mental health crises. You even helped me, my mama and son move homes when we had little time to do so… even brought another brother to help us out in a pinch bc you refused to be asked twice. And You know how much my mom loved her Boricua cooking session with you.
Best of all the long road trips to see my fam so we can pray together. You always made everyone feel safe around you, Lawrence. Such a great big brother, mentor, friend, young elder and Boricua comrade – gone too soon… we will miss you and celebrate your life… I hope you get to see your Boricua kin Soraya on the other side… both gone on days of celebration in December. Class acts. May you rest in divine peace.
