Carlos Alberto Torres was honored at Casa Aboy in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Friday, December 2, 2011. His design of this year’s commemorative plate for the Three Kings of Vieques was chosen for the Children of Vieques Holiday Gift Project.Every year the children of Vieques are able to participate in games, artisan workshops, free medical screenings, and a toy give-away with the money raised by the sale of the plates. Three other artists were honored for their designs of previous commemorative plates. Alida Millan, senior staffer of the newspaper Claridad and long time activist was the keynote speaker.

MISSION

The National Boricua Human Rights Network (NBHRN) is an organization composed of Puerto Ricans in the US and their supporters that educates and mobilizes the Puerto Rican community, the broader Latin American community and other people of conscience regarding issues of justice, peace and human rights. Our priorities include: (1) An end to the continuing political repression and criminalization of progressive sectors of the Puerto Rican community; and 2) The decontamination, development, and return of the island of Vieques to its people.
